Fellow Democrats –

News is finally coming out about the Republican health care proposal, and it’s just like you’d expect – it’ll take away health care from millions and raise insurance premiums through the roof.

“GOP Obamacare Plan Would Cover Fewer People; Blowback Grows”

News is finally starting to come out about the GOP health care plan, and Republicans are remarkably direct about what would happen – less health care for fewer people at higher premiums.

Republican lawmakers expect that their Obamacare replacement will result in fewer Americans covered by health insurance, a fact that’s likely to increase blowback amid growing support for the program.

New details of the plan are beginning to emerge, described by lawmakers and their aides. While still being worked out, it would do away with the Affordable Care Act’s requirement that all Americans have health coverage or pay a fine, and replace it with rules that let people choose not to buy insurance, instead paying higher premiums or penalties if they need it later. The result would be fewer people covered, said Republican lawmakers.

“Not everybody is going to have health care — some people just don’t care enough about their own care,” Representative Dennis Ross of Florida, a senior member of House Republicans’ vote-counting team, said in an interview Wednesday.

So Republicans are going to take away people’s health care, then blame the victims for it. This is heartless.

Fortunately, our Governor Jay Inslee is already at work fighting back against this proposal. After a presentation was made to the National Governor’s Association on the Republican health care plan, it was reported:

“I heard some very disturbing information,” Gov. Jay Inslee, a Democrat from Washington, said of the presentation. “We’re going to have to make sure that does not happen.”

Last week, Rep. Dave Reichert said that “no one would lose coverage” under the Republican health care plan. We don’t know whether Reichert lied or he had bad information about what his party was planning, but we know we need to contact him and let him know the facts.

Reichert’s office phone numbers are:

Washington D.C.    202-225-7761

Issaquah        425-677-7414

Wenatchee        509-885-6615

Call Reichert’s office and let him know that Washingtonians expect Congress to expand health care coverage, not cut it! The ACA is the most popular it has been in years, it’s provided health care to 750,000 people in our state, and Republicans are going in the wrong direction.
