State Legislators
The Washington State Legislature is made up of the Senate, the upper chamber, and the House of Representatives, the lower chamber. Each of Washington's 49 legislative districts has one Senator and two Representatives. Senators serve staggered four-year terms and Representatives serve two-year terms. Democrats hold the majority in both chambers of the Legislature, with 31 Democrats versus 18 Republicans in the Senate, and 61 Democrats versus 37 Republicans in the House of Representatives.
