You want to be a delegate...

CLICK HERE TO FIND YOUR CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT CAUCUS

My name is Jaxon Ravens. I’m the Executive Director of the Washington State Democrats, and I’m pleased to share with you information about the Washington State Democrats’ Caucus and Convention Cycle. The information below should help to answer some of your questions, but if you have additional questions or need clarification on a particular point please contact me at jaxon@wa-democrats.org. I, or another member of the State Party staff, will do what we can to help.

2008 is a particularly exciting year because the 244,000 people that attended the Precinct Caucuses in Washington State on Saturday, February 9th, made it one of the biggest, if not the biggest, caucus in U.S. History: http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/local/351601_caucus16.html

Although the Precinct Caucuses are over there are still several steps left in the Caucus and Convention Cycle, and there are numerous ways for you to get involved in this year’s elections.

These links should help provide the answers to some of your questions.

  • When and where is my Congressional District Caucus?
  • How does the Caucus and Convention Cycle work?
  • So you’re a delegate or alternate. What next?
  • So you’re not a delegate or an alternate, but you still want to be involved. What next?
  • So you want to be a delegate to the National Convention in Denver. What steps should you take?
  • When and where is my Legislative District Caucus?
  • When and where is my County Convention?

And here are some documents that you can use as a resource:

  • 2008 Caucus and Convention Cycle (PDF)
  • 2008 Legislative District Caucus – Delegate and Alternate Allocation (PDF)
  • 2008 Declaration of Candidacy Form – PLEO (PDF)
  • 2008 Declaration of Candidacy Form – At-large Delegate or Alternate (PDF)
  • You can be a National Delegate (PPT)
  • Delegate Selection and Affirmative Action Plan

Again, if you have any other questions or need help, please contact me at jaxon@wa-democrats.org.

We will post additional information about meeting times and locations soon, so please check back with us in the next few weeks.

I wish you the best of luck and look forward to seeing you at one of the most exciting Democratic National Conventions we have ever seen!

All the best,

Jaxon Ravens
Executive Director
Washington State Democrats
