Instead of Working in Olympia to Hammer Out Compromise on Budget, Hill Skips Town Tonight to Fundraise for Benton County Republicans

Seattle – This evening, instead of working with House Democrats and Governor Jay Inslee to come to a compromise on the budget, the Senate GOP’s chief budget negotiator is skipping town to fundraise for the Republican party. Tonight, Senator Andy Hill will keynote the Benton County Lincoln Day Dinner with fellow gubernatorial hopeful Bill Bryant in Pasco to raise money for the Benton County GOP.

“Andy Hill is fundraising during special session instead of working on the budget. That’s not what the people of the 45th district sent him to Olympia to do,” said Jaxon Ravens, Chair of the Washington State Democrats. “Pandering to and raising money for the Republican party is an inappropriate use of time for GOP’s chief budget negotiator during special session. Unless you are raising money to fill all the gimmicks in your budget, Andy Hill, get back to Olympia and finish your work to pass a legal budget that is fair to teachers, students, seniors, and our workers.”

The event starts at 5:30 PM tonight at the Red Lion in Pasco. The Republicans will be raffling off a Smith and Wesson handgun at the event.

Earlier this week, Andy Hill complained on his facebook page about the pay and work ethic of teachers in the school district he lives in.
