National News

Donald Trump and his Republican friends started off their year by (1) threatening thousands of miles of U.S. coastline by proposing to open it up to new offshore drilling and (2) disregarding the will of the voters in Washington State and ordering a crackdown on legal marijuana — all while Republicans have yet to fund CHIP in order to keep nearly 9 million children from losing access to health care or pass a clean DREAM Act to keep nearly 800,000 DREAMers from being detained and deported.

By bending to the whims of big oil and threatening the citizens of states that have legalized marijuana — after passing the reckless Trump Tax and trying to take away health care — Republicans are making their priorities crystal clear. And they are wildly out of step with the priorities of most Americans.

That’s why it’s so important that we have Democrats like Governor Jay Inslee, Attorney General Bob Ferguson, Senators Maria Cantwell and Patty Murray, and the rest of our Democratic congressional delegation fighting for us day in and day out.

Paul Ryan Trying to Rescue Cathy McMorris Rodgers

We’ve been saying it for months now: this is the year that we’re going unseat Cathy McMorris Rodgers. Well, it appears Cathy finally got the message. She’s worried and looking for help.

The Congressional Leadership Fund, Paul Ryan’s super PAC, has set up shop here in Spokane to potentially spend millions to try to save Cathy McMorris Rodgers from her own unpopularity. Cathy has ignored her constituents for years and has been an adamant supporter of Donald Trump. And now she’s facing a formidable opponent in Democratic candidate Lisa Brown.

There’s no denying it. Cathy McMorris Rodgers is in trouble. And Republicans are willing to spend big to try to keep her in office.

Organizing Academies

Republicans like Cathy McMorris Rodgers may have millions in dark money behind them, but Democrats have something that no amount of money in the world can replicate: people power. And that’s becoming clearer and clearer with each Organizing Academy we host.

Getting volunteer leaders trained now is a key part of our strategy to win big this year. That’s why we’re so excited to host 11 Organizing Academies around the state in just the next two months. We already have more than 700 excited volunteers scheduled to attend these interactive training sessions, including 250 scheduled to attend our Organizing Academy today — Saturday, January 6th — in Spokane!

You can check out the full calendar here, and make sure to check back often, as we’re regularly adding new ones!
