Podlodowski Slams Herrera Beutler for Ducking Debates

Democratic Party Chair: GOP incumbent’s ‘flagrant disregard for the people of Washington’s 3rd Congressional District is as tiring as it is unfair’

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE | October 8, 2018

SEATTLE, WA — With debates scheduled for Washington races including WA-05, WA-08, and U.S. Senate, Washington State Democratic Party Chair Tina Podlodowski is calling out incumbent Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler – who hasn’t held an in-person town hall since January 2017 – for refusing to participate in a debate for the benefit of Southwest Washington voters:

Says Tina Podlodowski: “Republican Representative Jaime Herrera Beutler’s flagrant disregard for the people of Washington’s 3rd Congressional District is as tiring as it is unfair. Washington’s 3rd, 5th, and 8th Congressional Districts are three of the most closely watched races in the entire country, but as of right now voters in only two of those districts will see candidates debate. It’s a shame. Congresswoman Herrera Beutler is really giving voters the short end of the stick on this one. So I ask: will Jaime Herrera Beutler continue avoiding voters or will she do the right thing and finally agree to a debate?”
