Seattle, WA – Today, Washington State Democratic Party Chair Tina Podlodowski gave the following statement congratulating Congresswoman Suzan DelBene on her appointment as chair of the DCCC:

“Washington Democrats could not be prouder to have our own Congresswoman Suzan DelBene at the helm of the DCCC. Born in Selma, Alabama, she’s always had a strong commitment to every vote, and every voice. Congresswoman DelBene has shown leadership as the very capable representative of Washington’s 1st district, and now she’ll take that wisdom to the nation and efforts on behalf of all Democrats.

Congresswoman DelBene exemplifies what Washington Democrats have been able to accomplish across the state through grassroots organizing by flipping a once-Republican district then making it solidly blue. Since Congresswoman DelBene’s election, Washington Democrats have successfully flipped and held the 8th district and pulled off a huge upset in Washington’s 3rd district this year, a largely rural district that was overlooked by many. Congresswoman DelBene was a major backer of Congresswoman-elect Glusenkamp-Perez’s bid in the 3rd district, which Leader Jeffries praised her for in his announcement of her appointment. House Democrats see what we are doing in Washington State and know that it can be a model for success across the country.

Congresswoman DelBene has been amazing to work with and continues to support efforts to elect Democrats up and down the ticket. She has been an incredible and engaged stalwart of the Democratic Party here in Washington state. We know that she’ll take the DCCC in a thoughtful direction, and I couldn’t be more excited.”
