“100 percent pro-life” Tiffany Smiley is endorsed by leading anti-abortion Senators, has campaigned with fellow hardline anti-abortion candidates

(Seattle, WA) – Over the weekend, Republican Tiffany Smiley announced a trip to Texas with a cohort of fellow MAGA Republican candidates to “see for [her]self the devastating consequences” of a so-called “open border with Mexico.”

At the start of her campaign, Tiffany Smiley endorsed the Texas abortion ban — one of the most extreme in the nation, with no exceptions for rape or incest — even while admitting “there’s a lot of parts of it that make it hard for me in Washington state.”

“Another use of “100% pro-life” Tiffany Smiley’s time while she’s in Texas might be to go see for herself the devastating consequences of the extreme abortion law she endorsed,” said Washington State Democratic Party spokesperson Caitlin Harrington. “Let’s remember: Tiffany Smiley praised the decision overturning Roe v. Wade, is backed by leading anti-abortion politicians, and endorsed one of the most extreme abortion bans in the country. Her MAGA Texas tour is the latest proof that as Senator, she would ignore Washington voters and push an extreme Republican agenda that our state rejects, including helping the GOP flip the Senate and pass a national abortion ban, which would allow politicians to control women’s health care decisions even in here in Washington.”

The Texas abortion ban has resulted in horrific instances of Texas women being denied essential health care including prenatal and maternity care, and doctors fleeing the state.

Some of Smiley’s first endorsements came from politicians leading radical anti-abortion efforts in the U.S. Senate — Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA) is reportedly leading efforts to draft a national abortion ban, and Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) who questioned the constitutionality of birth control. Smiley has also campaigned with U.S. House candidate Matt Larkin in WA-08, who said he would vote in favor of a nationwide abortion ban and supports banning certain forms of birth control.
