The “Maggie” Award is the Highest Award Bestowed to an Elected Official by the Washington State Democratic Party

Seattle – The Washington State Democrats awarded Bellevue Mayor Claudia Balducci the Elected Official of the Year Award at the 22nd Annual Warren G. Magnuson “Maggie” Awards Banquet on Saturday, September 19th in Wenatchee, WA, following the Fall Washington State Democratic Central Committee Meeting.

“Mayor Balducci simply gets things done for Bellevue and across the Eastside, and we are thrilled we are able to honor her and her work this year,” said Jaxon Ravens, Chair, Washington State Democrats. “Claudia not only shares our values as Democrats, but is a role model of effective local leadership. We look forward to her continuing her good work in the years to come.”

As well as serving as Bellevue’s Mayor, Balducci is a Sound Transit Board member and a mom to 9 year-old Victor. A proven problem solver and consensus builder, Claudia helped lead Bellevue through contentious land use and transportation planning efforts to ensure planned light rail construction and community and transit-friendly downtown development. She has remained involved in local and regional issues as a volunteer on the Boards of the Puget Sound Regional Council, Eastside Transportation Partnership, Youth Link, and King County Washington Women’s Lawyers among many others.

For the first time in the banquet’s history, the Magnuson dinner was hosted east of the Cascades in Wenatchee.
