ICYMI: Trump-funded Super PAC Spending Big with False Ad in Washington State to Prop Up Tiffany Smiley
(Puyallup, WA) – Mitch McConnell’s handpicked candidate, MAGA Republican Tiffany Smiley, continues to cozy up to Mitch McConnell and make clear she’d be a vote in the U.S. Senate to rubber stamp his extreme agenda. At a campaign event in Puyallup in April, Smiley made it explicit to her supporters: “we need Mitch McConnell’s money here to win.” Smiley was personally recruited by Mitch McConnell to run for Senate in Washington state; her campaign has received hundreds of thousands in combined campaign support from Mitch McConnell’s leadership PAC, the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), and a Trump-funded super PAC.

The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) has already spent more than $750,000 toward electing Smiley. And last month, Trump-funded super PAC Our American Century — which OpenSecrets describes as “a single-candidate super PAC in support of Donald Trump” — dropped half a million dollars on TV ads to prop up Smiley, with even more reserved in air time.
“Tiffany Smiley herself could not be more clear that she will be nothing more than a rubber stamp for Mitch McConnell and MAGA Republicans,” said Washington State Democratic Party spokesperson Caitlin Harrington. “Washington voters deserve a Senator who will fight for our values, but Tiffany Smiley is in Mitch McConnell’s pocket and will only help him push an extreme anti-abortion agenda and repeal our progress on health care and climate.”
