Cathy McMorris Rodgers Still Defending Trump

After the violence in Charlotte incited by racist right-wing protestors and Trump’s inexcusable Tuesday press conference when he defended the white supremacists, it’s time for all of us to come together to oppose the kind of hateful violence that Trump’s rhetoric is encouraging.

Many Republicans have stated that they don’t support the racist protestors causing violence in Charlottesville, but they won’t say anything about how Trump’s rhetoric is supporting the white supremacist movement or his role in stoking the fires of that movement. Any Republican statement condemning racism that doesn’t also condemn Trump isn’t a statement that’s worth much.

Meanwhile, Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers is still reaffirming her strong support for Trump and his agenda. Watch the video of her comments here:

As McMorris Rodgers is still out supporting Trump despite his explicit support for the white supremacist movement, our chair Tina Podlodowski issued a strong statement calling on McMorris Rodgers to denounce Trump. You can read it here.

We encourage you to share the video and the statement on social media and Facebook!

2018 Delegate Selection and Affirmative Action Plan

The 2018 Democratic State Convention is right around the corner! While 2018 is not a presidential year, there is still important party business to tend to and plenty of races to run and win. The state party is finalizing our 2018 Delegate Selection and Affirmative Action Plan (DSAAP) and we want your input! Please review our proposed 2018 plan here and let us know your feedback by September 1, 2017. Feedback should be directed to partyaffairs@wa-democrats.org.

Interested in the 2020 delegate selection process for the 2020 National Convention? That process is created based on guidelines from the DNC. Click here to provide us with feedback on what you’d like us to advocate for regarding 2020 requirements.

Bannon Out at White House

With the firing of Steve Bannon at the White House, there is one fewer white supremacist in the White House, but that doesn’t change the man in the Oval Office. Donald Trump has spent decades fueling hate in communities, including his recent attempts to divide our country and defending white supremacists.

That’s why we’re going to keep on standing with leaders like Sen. Maria Cantwell, Gov. Jay Inslee, and our Democrats in Congress who are working to hold the Trump Administration accountable and defend the American values of equality and we hold so dear.
