At Second U.S. Senate Debate, Hutchison Goes Low; Cantwell ‘Laser-Focused’ on Washington Vision, Values, & Voters

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE | Saturday, October 20, 2018

SPOKANE, WA—After the second debate between United States Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA) and Republican Susan Hutchison, held today at Spokane Community College, Washington State Democratic Party Chair Tina Podlodowski released the following statement:

“In attack after attack Susan Hutchison sought to obscure fact — and her own eyebrow-raising positions — with tortured defenses of Republicans’ failed policies. True to form, U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell stayed laser-focused on the people of Washington state — reminding voters about the sharp differences between herself and her opponent.

“Hutchison showed once again that she was starved for ideas, while Cantwell spoke to specifics on issues including the opioid crisis, affordable housing, health care costs, trade, and climate change.

“Maria Cantwell has the support of Washington voters because she earned it. On November 6th, I predict voters will resoundingly let Maria know that they have her back, and that they are ready for her to keep fighting for us in our nation’s capital.”
